American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

  • Tri-CAP
  • November 4, 2010

Ranked eighth and ninth in job creators with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds, Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and Weatherization for Low-Income Persons are operated locally through Tri-County Action Program, Inc in Waite Park, MN.  Angie Theisen, Executive Director of Tri-County Action Program, Inc. reports that amidst the scrutiny the Stimulus or ‘ARRA’ funds, CSBG and Weatherization were among the nation’s top job producers, which was a priority for these dollars. “We were excited about the impact these dollars could make on our community and these reports confirm that we had the right idea by utilizing the funding quickly and responsibly.  Contractors for weatherization and other community agencies have been great partners in making sure residents in Central Minnesota were served prudently with these funds”.  Tri-CAP took the intent of the funds very seriously and watched carefully over the utilization of the dollars.  “We did not look at taking care of our own infrastructure.  We looked at community need and went from there.”

Tri-County Action Program Inc. is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1964.  Tri-CAP has services in Central Minnesota that include rural transportation, weatherization, energy assistance, housing assistance, financial literacy, asset development, leadership development, free tax preparation, food support outreach, and renting education classes.  Tri-CAP accepts monetary donations in any amount at their office in Waite Park or on-line at www.tricap.org.
